  Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI)

The Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (www.cdfifund.gov/) was created for the purpose of promoting economic revitalization and community development through investment in and assistance to community development financial institutions (CDFIs). The CDFI Fund was established by the Riegle Community Development and Regulatory Improvement Act of 1994, as a bipartisan initiative.

Through these initiatives, the CDFI Fund provides direct monetary awards and training (through private sector contractors) aimed at increasing the number and capacity of CDFIs serving Native Communities (referred to as Native CDFIs for purposes of the Native Initiatives).
