United States and Territories
The following maps were imported from Census data obtained from ftp://ftp.census.gov/pub/tiger/boundary/
These 1990 State-Equivalent boundary files were created
by combining the state mif files from the Census FTP server and the
U.S. Territories State-Equivalent boundary files with MapInfo.
1990 State - In addition to the 50 States, the Census Bureau treats the
District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and each of the outlying areas (American
Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, and the Virgin
Islands of the United States) as the statistical equivalent of a State for the
purpose of data presentation. The State geocode consists of a 2-digit State
FIPS code.
Note: Included in this file are only those state-equivalent areas that the FCC
licenses on a regional basis. These areas include, in addition to the 50 States,
the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana
Islands, and the United States Virgin Islands. The Commission does have licensing
authority over other outlying areas but does not license them on a regional basis.
