Chairman Genachowski Releases Update to 2009 Rural Broadband Report

GN Docket No. 11-16

The 2008 Farm Bill directed the Chairman of Federal Communications Commission, in
coordination with the Secretary of Agriculture, to submit to Congress during 2009 a report
describing "a comprehensive rural broadband strategy."1 The 2008 Farm Bill also required the
Chairman, in coordination with the Secretary of Agriculture, to "update and evaluate" the Rural
Broadband Report in 2011.2 On June 17, 2011, Chairman Genachowski delivered to Congress a
Report constituting that update and evaluation; the Report was released to the public on June 22,
2011. A copy of that Report is attached. This public notice and the attached Report will be
published in the FCC Record pursuant to section 0.416 of the Commission's rules.3
