Washington, D.C. -- Today, Federal Communications Commission International Bureau Chief, Mindel De La Torre, announced the following personnel changes. Jose Albuquerque will be joining the International Bureau as the Chief of the Satellite Division. Within the Front Office of the International Bureau, Jerry Duvall will serve as Senior Advisor to the Bureau Chief for Economic Analysis, Walt Strack will serve as the Chief Economist, and Donna Christianson will serve as the Chief Data Officer.
“I welcome Jose Albuquerque to the Bureau. Jose brings a tremendous amount of experience and insight to the Bureau and will help the Satellite Division continue its trajectory of excellence,” said Mindel De La Torre. “I want to personally thank Fern Jarmulnek for so ably serving as Acting Chief of the Division during this busy interim period. I am also pleased to publically recognize Donna Christianson, Jerry Duvall and Walt Strack in their new roles within the International Bureau.”
Satellite Division Chief, Jose Albuquerque: Mr. Albuquerque joins the Federal Communications Commission with over 40 years of private sector and academic experience in the satellite and telecommunications sectors. Mr. Albuquerque holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Chief Data Officer, Donna Christianson: Since joining the Federal Communications Commission in 1997, Ms. Christianson has held a variety of positions in the Enforcement and International Bureaus. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Minnesota State University.
Senior Advisor to the Bureau Chief for Economic Analysis, Jerry Duvall: Jerry Duvall initially joined the Federal Communications Commission in 1978. Throughout his distinguished career he has provided expert economic analysis for a number of bureaus and commissioners. Mr. Duvall holds a Ph.D. in Economics from American University.
Assistant Bureau Chief and Chief Economist, Walt Strack: Mr. Strack joined the Federal Communications Commission in 1995 and has worked on a wide range of economic policy issues including mergers in the mobile sector, auctions, competition in the satellite sector, and international roaming, as well as serving as the International Bureau’s Chief Data Officer. Mr. Strack holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Virginia.
