Policy Branch Information
Satellite Space Applications Accepted for Filing
The applications listed below have been found, upon initial review, to be acceptable for filing. The Commission reserves
the right to return any of the applications if, upon further examination, it is determined the application is not in
conformance with the Commission's rules or its policies. Consideration of each satellite application in this Public Notice
may depend on the Commission's action on another satellite application earlier in the queue. Petitions, oppositions and
other pleadings filed in response to this notice should conform to Section 25.154 of the Commission's rules, unless
otherwise noted. 47 C.F.R. § 25.154.
ORBCOMM License Corp.
Orbcomm License Corp. has filed a further amendment to its application to modify its non-voice, non-geostationary mobile satellite service
system. See IBFS File Nos. SAT-MOD-20111021-00207, SAT-AMD-20120809-00125 and SAT-AMD-20130212-00020.
Orbcomm has amended its application to (1) modify the target orbital inclination for 17 Orbcomm Generation 2 satellites from 52 degrees to 47
degrees, and (2) modify the target operational orbital altitude from 750 kilometers to 715 kilometers.
The amendment also modifies Orbcomm's prior statement (see File No. SAT-AMD-20120809-00125) concerning end-of-life disposal of its
satellites by deleting an earlier representation that no components of the Orbcomm satellites will survive atmospheric re-entry and by providing a
casualty risk assessment.
Globalstar Licensee LLC
Globalstar Licensee LLC requests an extension of the license term for its non-geostationary "Big LEO" mobile satellite service constellation.
Globalstar requests extension to October 4, 2024, which is also the expiration date for Globalstar's blanket authorization for its mobile earth
station operations. Globalstar's constellation is licensed for service links in the 1610-1618.725 MHz (Earth-to-space) and 2483.5-2500 MHz
(space-to-Earth) frequency bands.
