Local Telephone Competition (As of 06/30/09)
This is the second of our reports about local telephone service in the United States that includes comprehensive information about subscribership to interconnected Voice over Internet Protocol (“interconnected VoIP”) service as well as comprehensive information about the more traditional telephone service lines. The report summarizes data collected by FCC Form 477 as of June 30, 2009.
We include certain ZIP Code-based information in the report. At present, there is no Form 477 requirement to report any telephone service information at the census-tract level of detail. We also update summary statistics for the mobile telephony subscribership information collected by Form 477.
