Through the Universal Service Order the FCC is encouraging the growth of telehealth in rural areas by making telecommunications rates for public and non-profit rural health care providers nearly the same as those paid in urban areas. The Universal Service fund makes advanced telecommunications affordable for rural healthcare providers. The goal is to make advanced Telecommunications affordable for rural health care to provide equal health care for all Americans.
