FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: News Media contact: May 27, 1999 David Fiske: (202) 418-0500 GLENN REYNOLDS NAMED ACTING CHIEF, COMMON CARRIER ENFORCEMENT DIVISION Glenn Reynolds has been named Acting Chief of the Common Carrier Bureau's Enforcement Division. Since August 1998, he has been Deputy Chief of the Division. Before becoming Deputy Chief, Reynolds was legal counsel to the Common Carrier Bureau Chief, with primary responsibility over enforcement and pricing matters. Reynolds joined the Commission in 1996 as an attorney advisor in the Enforcement Division. "I am delighted that Glenn will be leading our common carrier enforcement efforts at this crucial time," said FCC Chairman William Kennard. "The FCC is firmly committed to making sure that Americans have the information they need to make informed choices and are protected from slamming, cramming and other offenses. Glenn will be do an excellent job in leading the Division in this work." Before coming to the Commission, Reynolds was a senior associate at the Washington, D.C. law firm of Patton, Boggs, L.L.P., specializing in antitrust and consumer protection litigation. He received both his J.D. and B.A. degrees from the University of Virginia. The Enforcement Division is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Communications Act and the Commission's rules and orders concerning the provision of telephone-related services. The Division also develops and implements Common Carrier Bureau consumer protection programs and initiatives, and conducts rulemakings relating to such issues. - FCC -
