PUBLIC NOTICE FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION 1919 M STREET N.W. WASHINGTON, D.C. 20554 News media information 202/418-0500 Recorded listing of releases and texts 202/418-2222. ______________________________________________________________________ DA 97-242 February 3, 1997 ALTS FILES MOTION TO STRIKE; REVISED COMMENT SCHEDULE (CC DOCKET NO. 97-1) On January 2, 1997, Ameritech Michigan ("Ameritech") filed with the Commission an application to provide in-region, interLATA services in the State of Michigan pursuant to section 271 of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended. As part of its application, Ameritech included a document that it described as a state-approved interconnection agreement between Ameritech and AT&T Communications of Michigan, Inc. ("AT&T") ("January 2nd Version"). On January 17, 1997, Ameritech amended its application and submitted, among other things, a second version that it also described as a state-approved interconnection agreement between Ameritech and AT&T ("January 16th Version"), which it stated superseded the January 2nd Version. On January 17, 1997, the Common Carrier Bureau released a public notice that revised the procedural schedule adopted in the January 2nd PN effectively treating the January 17th amendment as a new application. On January 29, 1997, Ameritech filed with the Michigan Public Service Commission another version of the Ameritech/AT&T interconnection agreement ("January 29th Version"), which it states supersedes the January 16th Version. On February 3, 1997, the Association for Local Telecommunications Services (ALTS) filed a motion requesting the Commission to enter an order striking all reliance upon "an asserted '[state] approved AT&T agreement'" from Ameritech's pending section 271 application. In the alternative, ALTS asks the Commission to enter an order requiring Ameritech to show cause why such reliance should not be stricken from its application. Should Ameritech, or other interested parties, wish to respond to this motion, they must do so on or before February 5, 1997. Parties must limit their responses to 15 pages. In light of these exceptional circumstances, the procedural schedule adopted in the January 17th PN is revised. Comments in support or in opposition to the Ameritech application by interested third parties must be filed on or before February 10, 1997. All other comment dates established in the January 17th PN remain in effect.
