(BellSouth) filed a public interest petition to establish new rate elements for Switched Access Versions of its SMARTGate Service and SPA Managed Shared Network, pursuant to Section 69.4(g)(1) of the Commission's rules, 47 C.F.R. 69.4(g)(1). BellSouth seeks permission to establish switched access versions of two of BellSouth's existing special access services: SMARTGate Service and BellSouth SPA Managed Shared Network. BellSouth states that the establishment of switched access versions of these special access structures would be in the public interest. BellSouth states in its petition that it has received customer requests for switched access versions of these services. It contends that, given that the existing special access rate structures more closely reflect the manner in which the services are provisioned and the manner in which costs are incurred, such rate structures would also be most appropriate for switched access traffic when provisioned in the same manner. Interested parties may file comments on BellSouth's petition no later than December 1, 1997. Replies must be filed by December 16, 1997. When filing comments and/or replies, please reference the internal file number: CCB/CPD 97-58. An original and four copies of all comments and replies must be filed in accordance with Section 1.51(c) of the Commission's Rules, 47 C.F.R. 1.15(c).
