(USWC) filed a Petition for Waiver or Alternative Relief to permit to an adjustment to its access charge tariff. USWC requests a waiver or alternative relief to permit it to modify its Tariff F.C.C. No. 5 on a temporary basis to reflect certain one- time costs arising out of the complicated restructuring of the access charge regime. In its petition, USWC states that such relief is necessary to correct an unintended loophole that was created when USWC restructed its access tariffs to implemement the Commission's access charge reform. USWC notes the financial consequences of this loophole would be substantial and inequitable. USWC also states the unexpected and unintended undercharges would result in a revenue shortfall for USWC and an unearned bonus for interexchange carriers of tens of millions of dollars. Interested parties may file comments on USWC's petition no later than May 26, 1998. Replies must be filed by June 10, 1998. When filing comments and/or replies, please reference the internal file number: CCB/CPD 98-32.
