This action extends the filing deadline for reply comments to the Petition for Rulemaking filed by the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America) in the rule making proceeding RM-9096. ITS America requests an extension of time, from August 18 until October 1, 1997, in order to allow its Telecommunications Committee to meet and develop a consensus response to comments and in order to prepare additional technical analysis to address the issues in this proceeding. Though we believe that the requested extension period is overly long, we find that good cause has been demonstrated to extend the reply comment period for thirty days, i.e., until September 17, 1997. We believe this additional time will permit interested parties to develop reply comments with more thorough analysis of issues raised in the comments, such as spectrum sharing, technical requirements, standardization and spectrum requirements. Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED, that the Motion for Extension of Time, filed August 6, 1997 by ITS America, IS GRANTED IN PART and that the filing deadline for reply comments to the Petition for Rulemaking in RM-9096 is extended to September 17, 1997. 2. This action is taken pursuant to authority found in Sections 4 (i) and 303 of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, 47 U.S.C. 154 (i) and 303; and pursuant to Sections 0.31 and 0.241 of the Commission's Rules, 47 C.F.R. 0.31 and 0.241.
