COMMISSION MEETING ROOM, 1919 M STREET N.W., WASHINGTON, DC The Office of Engineering and Technology will present a tutorial on Wireless Local Loop on October 23rd at 1:30 p.m. in the Commission Meeting Room, Room 856, at 1919 M Street N.W. The presenters will be David Tinkwon, Alan G. Stoddard and Rachel M. Swindell from Nortel (Northern Telecom). David Tinkwon is reponsible for developing the North American market for Nortel's Fixed Wireless Access systems, that are based on systems developed with Ionica plc and various cellular and PCS technologies. He has more than 30 years of experience in the fields of switching, transmission, access, customer premises and network management. He has worked for British Telecom, DSC Communications Corporation, Bell-Northern Research and Northern Telecom. Alan Stoddard is a Senior Manager for Nortel, focusing on convergence of cellular and PCS technologies with existing wireline telephony. He currently heads up efforts to integrate CDMAOne technology with existing wireline and artificial intelligence networks in North America. Rachel Swindell has worked on military radio systems and smart antenna techniques for PCS and microwave coexistence. Since 1994, she has focused on development and implementation of radio techniques for Fixed Wireless Access systems. The tutorial will consist of an overview of fixed wireless technology, the integration of "fixed" mobile in the communications system, wideband fixed wireless, and engineering and deployment of fixed wireless. There will be a question and answer session after the presentation. The public is invited to attend.
