NEWS February 6, 1998 ANTOINETTE COOK BUSH NAMED TO HEAD FCC'S ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR THE 1999/2000 WRC FCC Chairman William E. Kennard has appointed Antoinette Cook Bush to head the FCC's Advisory Committee for the 1999/2000 World Radiocommunication Conference. Bush is a partner in the Washington, DC, office of the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher &Flom where she specializes in communications law. Prior to joining Skadden, Arps, she served as senior counsel to the Communications Subcommittee of the U.S. Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. She is a graduate of Wellesley College and Northwestern University Law School. In announcing his selection, Chairman Kennard said, "I am delighted that Toni Bush will be able to chair the Advisory Committee for WRC-99. Her background makes her eminently qualified for this role and the American public will be well served by her efforts." WRC-99 will address issues critical to U.S. industry with particular emphasis on: Non-geostationary Orbit Fixed-Satellite Service (NGSO-FSS)/Geostationary Orbit Fixed- Satellite Service (GSO-FSS) sharing issues; Mobile-Satellite Service (MSS) issues; spectrum allocation between 35 GHz and 50 GHz; terrestrial issues; space services issues including those related to inter-satellite service links; maritime and aeronautical issues; Broadcast Satellite Service (BSS) Plan issues; High Frequency Broadcast (HFBC) planning issues; regulatory and procedural issues related to WRC-99 agenda items; and any other issues related to WRC-99 agenda items and preliminary agenda items for the future World Radiocommunication Conferences.
