Gomez has been named Deputy Chief of the International Bureau. Previously, Gomez served as Chief of the Network Services Division of the Common Carrier Bureau. Gomez first joined the Federal Communications Commission in August 1994 as an attorney in the Consumer Protection Division of the Cable Services Bureau. She subsequently served as Legal Counsel to Kathleen B. Wallman, then Chief of the Common Carrier Bureau, and also to Wallman's successor, Regina M. Keeney. In August 1996, Gomez was appointed Staff Chair to the Federal-State Joint Board on Universal Service. She left the Commission to serve briefly as Counsel to the Senate Commerce Committee's Telecommunications Subcommittee, before moving on to the White House, to serve as Deputy Chief of Staff at the White House's National Economic Council. Gomez returned to the FCC in 1997, to serve as Deputy Chief of the Network Services Division of the Common Carrier Bureau. One year later, Gomez was named Chief of the Network Services Division. Prior to joining the Commission, Gomez was an associate at Arnold and Porter. Gomez earned a B.A. from Pennsylvania State University and a J.D. from George Washington University's National Law Center. - FCC -
