Applications Accepted for Filing: Comsat Corporation, Comsat World SystemsFile Nos. 32/33-SAT-ISP-97 Comsat Corporation has filed an application for authority to participate in a program for the construction of two high capacity INTELSAT Follow-on Satellites (INTELSAT FOS-II satellites). Comsat also seeks authority to participate in the procurement of launch vehicles for these satellites. Comsat anticipates that these satellites will be used as replacement satellites for INTELSAT VI satellites serving the Indian Ocean Region at 60๘ and 62๘ E.L. Deployment is targeted for 2001. PanAmSat Licensee Corp. File No. 35-SAT-EXT-97 PanAmSat Licensee Corporation has filed a request for a six-month extension of time in which to file the full financial showing for its PAS-7 satellite. Comsat Corporation File No. 39-SAT-LA-97 Comsat Corporation, by its Comsat Mobile Communications business unit, has filed an application for authority to participate in the launch, positioning and in-orbit test of the INMARSAT-3 (F-4) spacecraft. INMARSAT-3 (F-4) is scheduled to be launched during May 1997 and will operate at 54๘ W.L. This satellite will serve as the primary INMARSAT operational satellite for the Atlantic Ocean Region-West (AOR-W). GE American Communications, Inc. File Nos. 40/41-SAT-ML-97 GE American Communications, Inc. has filed an application for extension of the construction and launch dates for its GE-3 and GE-5 fixed-satellites. GE Americom was authorized to be construct, launch and operate these satellites in GE American Communications, Inc., DA 96-1939 (released November 21, 1996). GE Americom requests an extension of the milestones established in this order until reconsideration in the C/Ku-band proceeding is complete. ออออออออออออออออออออออออออออ ออออออออออออออออออออออออออออ Comsat Corporation File No. 548-SSA-97(50) Comsat Corporation, by its Comsat Personal Communications business unit, has filed a request for special temporary authority to enable it to operate up to 50 Planet I Mini-M mobile earth terminals to provide service in the United States. The terminals would operate in conjuction with Inmarsat satellites in the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean Regions and land earth stations in Southbury, CT and Santa Paula, CA. Comsat seeks this authority, pending grant of its underlying application (see File No. 1281-DSE-P/L-96), to enable it to begin to compete against foreign venturers in the U.S. market.
