In response to a petition filed by Jane Lafler ("Lafler"), the Commission has before it for consideration the Notice of Proposed Rule Making, 12 FCC Rcd 2455 (1997), seeking the allotment of Channel 279A to Hubbardston, Michigan, as that community's first local broadcast service. No comments were received from Lafler or any other party stating an intention to file an application for Channel 279A at Hubbardston, Michigan. 2. As stated in the Notice, a showing of continuing interest is required before a channel will be allotted, and absent such an expression of interest, it is the Commission's policy to refrain from allotting a channel. Therefore, Lafler's request to allot Channel 279A to Hubbardston, Michigan, will be dismissed. 3. Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED, That the request of Jane Lafler to allot Channel 279A to Hubbardston, Michigan, IS DISMISSED. 4. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, That this proceeding IS TERMINATED. 5.
