Fife filed comments supporting the allotment of Channel 240A at Fife Lake. No other comments were received. 2.The Notice requested that Fife furnish information to demonstrate that Fife Lake has the social, economic and cultural indicia to qualify it as a community for allotment purposes. Fife states that Fife Lake has its own post office and zip code and public sewage authority. Further, the Forest Area Federal Credit Union and West Lakes Insurance Company and the Dewey Insurance Agency are located in the business area of the community. Fife lists the T.G. Construction Company, Stone Mountain Carpet Mills and the Classic Air Views Photography Studio as other companies doing business in Fife Lake, as well as the Logs Resort located on State Street. Fife points out that Fife Lake also has a masonry and concrete contractor as well as a number of social groups. 3.We believe that Fife has provided us with sufficient indicia to conclude that Fife Lake is a community for allotment purposes. It is an identifiable population grouping with business that identify themselves with the residents of Fife Lake. See Garrison, Kentucky, 6 FCC Rcd 1428 (1991) and Shell Knob, Missouri, 11 FCC Rcd 12196 (1996). 4.After consideration of the information filed in this proceeding, we believe the public interest would be served by the allotment of Channel 240A at Fife Lake, Michigan. Channel 240A can be allotted to Fife Lake consistent with the minimum distance separation requirements of the Commission's Rules without a site restriction. Since Fife Lake is located within 320 kilometers (200 miles) of the U.S.-Canadian border, concurrence of the Canadian government has been obtained for this allotment. 5.Accordingly, pursuant to the authority contained in Sections 4(i), 5(c)(1), 303(g) and (r) and 307(b) of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, and Sections 0.61, 0.204(b) and 0.283 of the Commission's Rules, IT IS ORDERED, That effective September 8, 1997, the FM Table of Allotments, Section 73.202(b) of the Commission's Rules, IS AMENDED for the community listed below, as follows: CommunityChannel No. Fife Lake, Michigan 240A 6.The window period for filing applications for Channel 240A at Fife Lake, Michigan, will open on September 8, 1997, and close on October 9, 1997. 7.IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, That this proceeding IS TERMINATED. 8.For further information concerning the above, contact Kathleen Scheuerle, Mass Media Bureau, (202) 418-2180.
