At the request of George G. Callicut ("petitioner"), the Commission has before it the Notice of Proposed Rule Making, 12 FCC Rcd 18070 (1997), proposing the allotment of Channel 268A to New Albany, Mississippi. Petitioner and Broadcasters & Publishers, Inc. filed comments supporting of the allotment of Channel 268A to New Albany. 2. We believe the public interest would be served by allotting Channel 268A to New Albany, since it will provide the community with an additional FM service. Channel 268A can be allotted to New Albany in compliance with the Commission's minimum distance separation requirements with a site restriction of 5.5 kilometers (3.4 miles) northwest in order to avoid a short-spacing conflict with the licensed operation of Station WFTA-FM, Channel 270C2, Fulton, Mississippi. 3. Accordingly, pursuant to the authority contained in Sections 4(i),5(c)(1), 303(g) and (r) and 307(b) of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, and Sections 0.61, 0.204(b) and 0.283 of the Commission's Rules, IT IS ORDERED, That effective March 30, 1998, the FM Table of Allotments, Section 73.202(b) of the Commission's Rules, IS AMENDED, with respect to the community listed below, to read as follows: City Channel No. New Albany, Mississippi 268A, 278C, 294C2 4. A filing window for Channel 268A at New Albany, Mississippi, will not be opened at this time. Instead, the issue of opening a filing window for this channel will be addressed by the Commission in a subsequent order. 5. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, That this proceeding IS TERMINATED. 6.
