NEWS December 26, 1996 ERIC JENSEN JOINS OFFICE OF COMMUNICATIONS BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES AS DEPUTY DIRECTOR The Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) Office of Communications Business Opportunities (OCBO) today announced the appointment of Mr. Eric Liang Jensen as its new Deputy Director. Commenting on Mr. Jensen's appoint, Chairman Hundt said: "At OCBO, Mr. Jensen will be responsible for assisting the FCC's efforts to promote telecommunications business opportunities for small businesses." "Building small business opportunity into a strong business base is key to our Nation's ability to compete globally", the Chairman said. Eric Jensen joins OCBO from the United States Department of Commerce, where he served as Chief of the Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs Division at the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) for three years. At the Commerce Department, Mr. Jensen promoted the creation of business opportunities through federal, state and private sector collaborative partnerships. He also directed the public affairs activities of the agency as the acting Assistant Director for Public Affairs. Prior to his term at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Mr. Jensen served for eight years as the Staff Director for two subcommittees of the U.S. House of Representatives. As the Staff Director of the Human Resources Subcommittee of the House Education & Labor Committee from 1990-1993, Mr. Jensen was responsible for managing congressional oversight over the community and economic development policies and human resource programs of the nation. As the Staff Director of the Employment Opportunities Subcommittee, from 1985- 1990, Mr. Jensen directed oversight over and created legislative policy for job training, youth service, and employment discrimination enforcement programs in the United States. He began his government service at the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. Mr. Jensen is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and the Antioch School of Law. - FCC -
