July 30, 1997 SUSAN FOX TO HEAD LOCAL COMPETITION ENFORCEMENT TASK FORCE Susan Fox, who serves as Special Counsel in the Commission's Office of General Counsel, will be interim chair of the Federal Communications Commission's Enforcement Task Force. Other members of the Task Force include: Barbara Esbin, Associate Bureau Chief, Cable Services Bureau; Mary Beth Richards, Deputy Bureau Chief, Common Carrier Bureau; John Muleta, Chief, Enforcement Division, Common Carrier Bureau; Jeanine Poltronieri, Associate Bureau Chief, Wireless Telecommunications Bureau. In her role as Special Counsel, Ms. Fox advises on the implementation of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 and other legal issues. Before joining the Commission, Ms. Fox was an associate with the law firm of Hogan & Hartson in Washington, DC, and served as law clerk to the Honorable H. Robert Mayer, United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Ms. Fox holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. She received a B.A. in Engineering from Lafayette College. The Enforcement Task Force was created to ensure that the pro-competitive goals of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 are realized and to ensure that enforcement of the Commission's competition rules is fast, fair, and predictable. The Task Force will study the pace of local competition in the telecommunications market and coordinate pending Commission matters relating to local competition.
