ELIZABETH ROSE TO BE NAMED DIRECTOR,
OFFICE OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS

Elizabeth Rose will be named the Director of the FCC's Office of Public Affairs. In this capacity, she will oversee the press and consumer outreach of the FCC, as well as the library, many of the reference rooms, and the audio-visual staff.
Prior to joining the Commission, Rose managed strategic relations for a number of clients, including the Washington College of Law at American University and Consumers Union/Consumer Reports. She was also an adjunct professor at the American University's School of Communications.
Rose previously served as Acting Director of Public Affairs for the Department of Labor's Employment Standards Administration. Prior to that, she served as Special Assistant in the Department of Labor's Office of Public Affairs, where she was on the team handling media relations for U.S. Secretary of Labor Robert B. Reich.
Before joining the Department of Labor in 1994, Rose was Director of Media Relations for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. In this role she served as the Museum's spokesperson throughout its planning, opening, and first two years of service to the public.
Her previous posts include press secretary for U.S. Senator Jay Rockefeller, IV; press secretary for the Dukakis/Bentsen Campaign in the State of Wisconsin; and press secretary/legislative assistant for U.S. Representative Thomas J. Downey.
Rose earned a B.A. degree in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin. She lives in Washington, DC, with her husband and two children.
