NEWS December 18, 1997 KATHRYN RILEY DOLE NAMED DEPUTY DIRECTOR OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE AND INTERGOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS Kathryn Riley Dole has been named Deputy Director, Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs (OLIA). She will assist the Director in planning, developing and coordinating the FCC's legislative program. She will also be responsible for handling international issues. Dole has served as International Bureau Liaison in the Administrative Law Division of the FCC's Office of General Counsel for the past year. In that capacity, she advised then- General Counsel William E. Kennard, on a variety of international telecom and satellite issues. Before that, Dole worked in the Telecommunications Division of the International Bureau. She also worked in the Office of then-General Counsel Robert L. Pettit, where she handled a broad range of issues including international, wireless, and cable matters. Prior to coming to the FCC, Dole practiced communications law at the firms of Leventhal, Senter & Lerman and Fletcher, Heald and Hildreth, where she handled international, cable, broadcast, and intellectual property issues. She has also served as legislative assistant to U.S. Representative Millicent Fenwick and as chief legislative assistant to U.S. Representative Jim Courter. She was a Congressional Intern for Representative Fenwick during college. Dole graduated from American University Law School, where she served as an editor of the American University Law Review. She graduated cum laude with a B.A. in political science from Drew University, Madison, NJ, and attended University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She lives in McLean, VA, with her husband, Greg, and two children, Scott (8) and Evelyn (3). - FCC -
