Pleading cycle established for comment on Quest Communications International, Inc.'s Report on Proposed Divestiture of Its Long Distance Activity in the US West Region.

On August 19, 1999, Qwest Communications International, Inc. (Qwest) and U S West, Inc., (U S West) filed joint applications pursuant to Sections 214 and 310 of the Communications Act and Sections 34-39 of the Cable Landing License Act asking the Commission to approve the transfer of control of licenses and lines. On March 10, 2000 the Commission by Memorandum Opinion and Order approved the applications subject to the requirement that, prior to closing the merger, Qwest and U S West must comply with Section 271 of the Communications Act by divesting Qwest's interLATA businesses orginating in the U S West region.

BellSouth Telecommunications, Inc., files Petition for Waiver of 47 C.F.R. §32.27

On March 29, 2000, BellSouth Telecommunications, Inc. filed an Expedited Petition for Waiver of the Commission's affiliate transaction rules. In the petition, BellSouth requests that it be allowed to record certain affiliate transactions in its regulated books of account at terms other than those provided for in §32.27 of the Commission's Rules.

Public Utilities Commission of Ohio Files Petition for Waiver of 47 C.F.R. §51.507(f)

On April 7, 2000, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio filed a petition for a limited waiver of Section 51.507(f) of the Commission's Rules until at least May 1, 2001, so that it may complete a proceeding regarding the deaveraging of unbundled network element (UNE) rates for GTE and Sprint.

In The Matter of Extension of the Filing Requirement for Children's Television Programming Reports (FCC Form 398).

The Commission seeks comments on the proposed amendment to Section 73.3526(e)(11)(iii) of the Commission's Rules to continue indefinitely the requirement that commercial broadcast television licensees file on an annual basis their quarterly Children's Television Programming Reports (FCC Form 398). Comments are due June 12; reply comments due July 12, 2000.

In the Matter of Compatibility Between Cable Systems and Consumer Electronics Equipment.

By NPRM, The Commission seeks comment on rules to resolve outstanding issues regarding the compatibility of cable television systems, digital television receivers, set-top boxes, and other equipment used consumers to receive and enjoy programming and other services available over cable television cables.

On December 24, 1998, the Wireless Bureau issued an order granting AirCell a request for waiver of Section 22.925 of the Commission's Rules. In the AirCell Order, the Bureau stated that future cellular operators seeking to become participants in the AirCell System must file requests for waiver.
