FCC TO HOLD OPEN COMMISSION MEETING

TUESDAY, JULY 16, 2002

                                                                             

 

The Federal Communications Commission will hold an Open Meeting on the subjects listed below on Tuesday, July 16, 2002, which is scheduled to commence at 9:30 a.m. in Room TW-C305, at 445 12th Street, S. W., Washington, D.C.

WIRELINE COMPETITION

TITLE:  Implementation of the Telecommunications Act of 1996:  Telecommunications Carriers’ Use of Customer Proprietary Network Information and Other Customer Information (CC Docket No. 96-115); and Implementation of the Non-Accounting Safeguards of Section 271 and 272 of the Communications Act of 1934, As Amended (CC Docket No. 96-149).

SUMMARY:  The Commission will consider a Third Report and Order and Third Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to implement section 222(c)(1) of the Communications Act, which requires customer “approval” before a telecommunications carrier may use, disclose, or permit access to a customer’s confidential proprietary network information (CPNI).

WIRELESS TELE-COMMUNICATIONS

TITLE:  Verizon Wireless’ Petition for Partial Forbearance from the Commercial Mobile Radio Services Number Portability Obligation (WT Docket No. 01-184); and Telephone Number Portability (CC Docket No. 95-116).

SUMMARY:  The Commission will consider a Memorandum Opinion and Order regarding the Verizon Wireless petition for forbearance from the wireless local number portability requirements.

WIRELESS TELE-COMMUNICATIONS

TITLE:  The Development of Operational, Technical and Spectrum Requirements for Meeting Federal, State and Local Public Safety Agency Communication Requirements Through the Year 2010 (WT Docket No. 96-86).

SUMMARY:  The Commission will consider a Fifth Report and Order concerning the migration to 6.25 kHz spectral efficiency in the 700 MHz public safety band.
