NEWSReport No. WT 97-42 WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU October 10, 1997 WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU APPROVES MERGER OF PACIFICORP HOLDINGS, INC. AND CENTURY TELEPHONE ENTERPRISES, INC. (WT Report No. LB-97-49) Today the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau approved the applications filed on July 7 and 11, 1997, by Century Telephone Enterprises, Inc. (CTE) and PacifiCorp Holdings, Inc. (PHI) pursuant to Sections 214(a) and 310(d) of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended. The parties sought consent to transfer ultimate control over all FCC authorizations held by PHI's wholly-owned subsidiary, Pacific Telecom, Inc. (PTI) to CTE and its subsidiary, Century Cellunet, in connection with the proposed merger of CTE and PTI. Applying the Commission's public interest analysis, the Bureau found that the proposed transfer will serve the public interest, convenience and necessity, and granted the requested authorizations and transfer-of-control applications.
