NEWS March 19, 1998 D'WANA TERRY NAMED CHIEF OF THE WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREA U'S PUBLIC SAFETY AND PRIVATE WIRELESS DIVISION D'wana R. Terry has been named Chief of the Public Safety and Private Wireless Division of the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (Wireless Bureau). Terry has been Acting Chief of that Division since January of 1998. The Division is responsible for regulatory issues relating to public safety and private wireless services. Prior to her current role, Terry served as the Chief Counsel to the Wireless Bureau Chief since February of 1997. In that capacity, Terry advised the Bureau Chief regarding legal and policy issues with a concentration in public safety and private wireless radio services and enforcement matters. Prior to that position, in February 1996, Terry was appointed as a Legal Advisor to the Bureau Chief. During her tenure as a Legal Advisor, she concentrated in matters regarding private wireless services and the use of competitive bidding. Terry also served as the Bureau's liaison to the Office of General Counsel and the Office of Communications Business Opportunities. Terry has also served in other positions at the FCC since joining the Commission in June of 1994. Prior to joining the FCC, Terry was an associate in the communications practice of the Washington, D.C. office of Dow, Lohnes & Albertson. She specialized in the firm's mass media regulatory practice. Terry received an B.A. degree from Lafayette College, Easton, PA, as a double major in International Affairs and Mathematics. She received a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was a Dillard Fellow. Terry is a member of the District of Columbia Bar. She lives in the District of Columbia with her husband, Darryl, and their daughter, Rosslynne. - FCC -
