Washington, D.C. 20554 Released: September 10, 1997 WTB ISSUES CLARIFICATION OF PART 101 FEES EFFECTIVE 9/15/97 The Commission issued a Report and Order, MD Docket No. 96-186, released June 26, 1997, which revises the method for collection of regulatory fees for Common Carrier Point-to- Point Microwave, Local Television Transmission and Digital Electronic Message Services, licensed under Part 101 of the FCC Rules. These licensees were previously required to submit an annual regulatory fee payment per station after the license was issued. Effective with applications received 9/15/97 or after, applicants must submit the total regulatory fee payment for the entire license term (10 years) when the applications are filed. The regulatory fee will increase to $10 per license per year effective with receipts of 9/15/97, and is due along with the application fee for any application submitted for the purpose of new, renewal or reinstatement. No regulatory fee is required with applications submitted for modification and other purposes which do not extend the expiration date of the authorization. Detailed fee requirements for these specific radio services and purposes can be found in the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau Fee Filing Guide (September 1997 edition) or FCC Form 1070M (September 1997 edition). Also effective 9/15/97, a Fee Remittance Advice, FCC Form 159, must be submitted with any payment to the FCC. The most current edition date of this form is July 1997.
