WASHINGTON, D.C. 20554 News media information 202/418-0500 Fax-On-Demand 202/418-2830 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov ftp.fcc.gov DA 99-1187 Released: June 18, 1999 WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU CLARIFIES PROCEDURE FOR FILING FULL-SIZE MAPS IN THE CELLULAR RADIOTELEPHONE SERVICE Beginning July 1, 1999, applications for facilities in the Cellular Radiotelephone Service must be submitted electronically via the ULS. Applicants may fill out application forms online and upload electronic or scanned copies of attachments. The Commission's Rules, however, require the submission of a full-size 1:500,000 scale map, together with a reduced 8« x 11 inch copy of the full size map, with certain cellular applications. Because it is not practical to scan the large maps and upload them, the Bureau asks that applicants continue manual filing of these maps in accordance with the procedure below. Applicants must, however, submit the reduced 8« x 11 inch map electronically, as an attachment to their online filing. Where required by the rules, full-size maps should be received at the Commission within 10 days of submitting the associated application via ULS. The map(s) should be attached to a cover letter containing the name of the applicant, the ULS assigned file number and the date the application was submitted via the ULS.
