AMERITECH APPARENTLY LIABILITY FOR
FORFEITURE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF CABLE
FACILITY WITHOUT SECTION 214 APPROVAL (Report
No. CC 95-44, Common Carrier Action)
     The Commission has issued a NAL finding
Ameritech Corp. apparently liable for a forfeiture penalty of
$200,000 for willfully violating Section 214 of the
Communications Act of 1934 by constructing new facilities
without first obtaining the necessary authorization from the
Commission.  Ameritech will have the opportunity to submit
evidence and arguments in response to this NAL to show
that no forfeiture should be imposed or that some lesser
amount should be assessed. Ameritech must either filed this
response or pay the full amount of the proposed forfeiture
within 30 days of the release of this NAL.
