TELEMEDICINE ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO ASSIST
IMPLEMENTATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO
ASSIST IMPLEMENTATION OF THE
TELECOMMUNICATIONS ACT.
     Chairman Reed Hundt announced today the
Commission s intention to form a Telemedicine Advisory
Committee to the FCC to assist with implementation of the
universal service and advanced telecommunivcations services
provisions of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 and to
examine telecommunications rules and regulations that
impede or would enhance the development of tele-health
applications.

THE FCC PROPOSES TO EXTEND THE LICENSE
TERM OF MOST BROADCAST STATIONS TO EIGHT
YEARS (Report No. MM 96-18, Mass Media Action)
     In order to implement new statutory provisions of
the Telecommunications Act of 1996, the Commission has
proposed  rules which would extend the license term for
television and radio stations to eight years, with the
exception of experimental broadcast station license terms
which would remain one year.
