**COMMISSION ADOPTS MEASURES TO PROTECT
CONSUMERS FROM DECEPTIVE TOLL-FREE CALL
PRACTICES; Implements 1996 Telecom Act Provisions
Governing Interstate Pay-Per-Call and Other Information
Services -- CC Docket Nos. 96-146 and 93-22, (Report No.
DC 96-64, Action in Docket Case)
     The Commission today released an Order that will
protect consumers from unknowingly being charged for calls
made to toll-free numbers.  The new rules implement
provisions of the 1996 Telecommunications Act and conform
FCC regulations to the more stringent statutory provisions
governing toll-free service, interstate pay-per-call, and other
information services.
     Action by the Commission June 28, 1996, by Order

FCC AFFIRMS DENIAL OF WAIVER REQUESTS IN
THE FIRST AUCTION OF IVDS LICENSES ( Report No.
WT 96-12, Wireless Telecom Action)
     In the context of the payment rules for the first
IVDS auction, the FCC has denied four petitions for
reconsideration of Commission action, and has dismissed a
fifth petition as repetitious.
