FCC AND BELLSOUTH ENTER INTO A $750,000 CONSENT DECREE IMPROVING COMPLIANCE WITH LOCAL COMPETITION RULES. The FCC announced that in settlement issues uncovered during an investigation by Commission staff, BellSouth Corporation has agreed to make a voluntary payment of $750,000 to the United States Treasury and to take important steps to improve its compliance. FCC IMPOSES $230,000 FORFEITURE AGAINST CAROLINA LIQUIDATORS FOR VIOLATIONS OF THE TELEPHONE CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT. The FCC assessed a $230,000 forfeiture against Carolina Liquidators, Inc. for sending unsolicited advertisements to telephone facsimile machines in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Commission's related rules.
