FCC AND BELLSOUTH ENTER INTO A $750,000 CONSENT DECREE IMPROVING COMPLIANCE WITH LOCAL COMPETITION RULES. The FCC announced that in settlement issues uncovered during an investigation by Commission staff, BellSouth Corporation has agreed to make a voluntary payment of $750,000 to the United States Treasury and to take important steps to improve its compliance. FCC IMPOSES $230,000 FORFEITURE AGAINST CAROLINA LIQUIDATORS FOR VIOLATIONS OF THE TELEPHONE CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT. The FCC assessed a $230,000 forfeiture against Carolina Liquidators, Inc. for sending unsolicited advertisements to telephone facsimile machines in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Commission's related rules. ENFORCEMENT BUREAU AND GLOBAL CROSSING ENTER INTO CONSENT DECREE; GLOBAL CROSSING TO CHANGE PAYPHONE COMPENSATION PRACTICES AND PAY $80,000.
