To perform an advanced search go to: https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/GenericSearch.cfm. The advanced search permits search on a wide range of fields associated with an FCC ID to help find the information on a grant of certification.
FCC ID Search Instructions
- FCC ID numbers consists of two elements, a grantee code and an equipment product code. The FCC ID is assigned to all devices subject to certification.
- The Grantee Code, the first portion of the ID, is a three or five character alphanumeric string representing the Grantee/Applicant.
- Grantee codes that begin with an alpha character (A-Z) consist of three characters.
- Grantee codes that begin with a number (2-9) consist of five characters.
- The Grantee Code does not contain the numbers “one” and/or “zero”. The Grantee Code is assigned by the Commission permanently to a company for authorization of all radio frequency equipment.
- The Product Code is the second portion of the FCC ID that begins after the grantee code. The Product Code may include hyphens and/or dashes (-). The Product Code is assigned by the Grantee.
- More examples and some additional explanation is available on the FCCID help section.
FCC ID numbers are usually shown on a label on devices and indicate that the device has received a grant of certification from the FCC. If a device has a built-in display, the FCC ID may be in the “about” or “settings” menu of the device. Check the instruction in the User Manual to find the FCC ID information. The FCC rules require that most devices be authorized before they can legally be imported or sold in the U.S. These rules also require that labels with the information prescribed by the FCC be affixed or accompany the device. However, not all devices approved for sale and operation by the FCC rules require an FCC ID number.
More information about the FCC equipment authorization process is available in the FCC's OET Laboratory Knowledge Database (KDB) or on the equipment authorization web page.
It should also be noted that:
- That products approved under the Verification and Declaration of Conformity procedures are not required to be filed with the FCC and thus will NOT be in the FCC ID database. In general, if your equipment does NOT have an FCC ID number clearly labeled on it, it will NOT be in this equipment authorization database.
- Part 68: The FCC ID is NOT related to the FCC Registration Number under Part 68 Connection of Terminal Equipment to the Telephone Network. For a database of telephone terminal equipment see Administrative Council for Terminal Attachments (ACTA).
- Search using the grantee code only:
- Search using grantee code and partial equipment product code:
