Results from the first data collection, in which providers reported numbers of subscribers to high-speedservices at the end of 1999, were presented in the Commission’s second report to Congress on advanced telecommunications capability. We summarize here comparable information from the second data collection, thereby presenting a snapshot of subscribership at mid-year 2000.  Subscribership to high-speed services for Internet access increased by 57% during the first half of 2000.  At mid-year, the presence of high-speed service subscribers was reported in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, and in about 70% of the zip codes in the United States.
