This is the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC’s) report on telephone subscribership in the United States, presenting subscribership statistics based on the Current Population Survey (CPS) conducted by the Census Bureau in November 2001. Statistics from that survey estimated that 94.9% of all households in the United States had telephone service. Although telephone subscribership is down 0.2% from the last report, for July 2001, the change from July is not statistically significant. The report also shows subscribership levels by state, income level, race, age, household size, and employment status.
