Overview

The Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) is the Commission’s next step in bridging the digital divide.  On August 1, 2019, the Commission adopted a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) proposing to establish the $20.4 billion RDOF which will target at least 4 million rural homes and small businesses that lack fixed broadband service.  The NPRM seeks comment on conducting a reverse auction that builds on the success of the CAF Phase II auction.
