    SHORT-FORM FILING DEADLINE EXTENDED TO AUGUST 1, 1996, FOR
       AUCTION OF BROADBAND PERSONAL COMMUNICATIONS SERVICE
                       (D, E, AND F BLOCKS)

     Some applicants have reported delays in receiving electronic filing receipt confirmation for the
short-form applications (FCC Form 175) for the D, E, and F block broadband PCS auction.  The
Commission has temporarily suspended the electronic filing system to perform maintenance to ensure
that delays do not persist.  In order to provide ample opportunity for all applicants to file
electronically, the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau has changed the short-form application (FCC
Form 175) filing deadline from the previously announced date, Wednesday July 31, 1996, 5:30 p.m.
EDT, to Thursday, August 1, 1996, 5:30 p.m. EDT.  Applicants who have filed manually are
encouraged to file electronically.  If duplicate applications are filed (one electronically and one
manually) the Commission will process the electronic application only.  Electronic filing greatly
increases the speed with which the Commission is able to process applications.  The August 26, 1996,
start date for the auction and all other dates previously announced by the Bureau are unchanged.  For
