Speech Bandwidth Reduction

OSP Working Paper 3 (Nov 1980) reviews the technologies for speech bandwidth compression that were current and state of the art in 1980. The authors conclude that those techniques for significantly reducing speech bandwidth produce a concomitant degradation in speech quality. This basic conclusion is amplified, analyzed, and supported by the evidence they present in this report.
