On January 28, 2016, the FCC released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) proposing to strengthen the Emergency Alert System (EAS), and requested comment on how to ensure emergency alerts and outreach activities are accessible to individuals with disabilities, including the use of new and emerging technologies, such as text‐to‐speech, alert signaling, and American Sign Language video alerts.\

On March 24, 2016, the FCC released a Public Notice announcing the comment due dates, as indicated above. Comments may be filed in PS Docket Nos. 15‐94 and 15‐91 in http://apps.fcc.gov/ecfs//.
