“This page is a digitally archived AccessInfo Announcement”

On December 28, 2016, the FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (PSHSB) released its initial findings regarding the 2016 nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS).

The initial findings show that the EAS Test was a success, and has significantly improved from the 2011 nationwide test.  To improve EAS even further for people with disabilities who had difficulty understanding the alert text or audio, the findings suggest that “EAS tests could be made more accessible by applying to EAS tests the accessibility rules that already apply to live EAS alerts.”
