On April 21, 2017, the Public Safety & Homeland Security Bureau released a report that analyzes the results from the September 28, 2016 nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and includes recommendations for next steps.
The report concludes that the EAS Test was largely a success and identifies several areas in which the EAS can be improved. Some of the recommendations for improvement include encouraging innovation and modernizing the EAS to provide greater alert accessibility to people with disabilities.
