Starting December 20, 2018, mid-sized and smaller cable, satellite, and fiber television service providers are required to provide accessible set-top box controls, menus, and program guides to individuals who are blind or visually impaired upon request.

The FCC’s Media Bureau is required to evaluate this compliance deadline and seek comment on whether this deadline should be retained or extended.  Public comment is sought regarding available accessibility solutions and any concerns about the implementation of such solutions by mid-sized and smaller video programming distributors.
