STATEMENT BY FCC COMMISSIONER MIGNON L. CLYBURN

ON THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF MICHAEL K. POWELL TO HEAD NCTA

I congratulate former FCC Chairman Michael Powell on his new position as President and CEO
of NCTA.
During his tenure at the helm of the Commission, Michael demonstrated tremendous intelligence
in pushing competing sides of a policy debate to arrive at non-regulatory solutions that served
the public interest. We currently have a number of difficult policy initiatives to address, such as
improving broadband adoption and deployment, and we will all benefit from Michael's
experience and acumen on these issues and many others.
I look forward to working with Michael, and am anxious to partner with him on the challenges
that lie ahead.
