STATEMENT OF COMMISSIONER AJIT PAI
ON THE DEATH OF SENATOR DANIEL K. INOUYE
Senator Daniel K. Inouye dedicated his life to serving others. From his remarkable
heroism on World War II battlefields to his decades representing his beloved State of Hawaii on
Capitol Hill, Senator Inouye defended our freedoms and improved the lives of his fellow
Americans. It is fitting that his last word was “Aloha”; no one better embodied that spirit than
Senator Inouye. Senator Inouye’s body soon will lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda. This is a
rare honor, but one that he richly deserves.
