Washington, DC., –
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC), in association with E-CommerceNow, the Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the Service Corps of Retired Executives
(SCORE), will be hosting an educational and networking event entitled, “Technology Support for Small
Businesses,” on February 15, 2012, from 8 am to 4:45 pm at the DC Convention Center. The event is
open to the public and will provide opportunities for entrepreneurs and small business owners to learn
how technology can improve business plans and increase profitability.
“Technology Support for Small Businesses” is a key component of an FCC partnership with a
number of corporations, civic organizations, and other Federal agencies to help small businesses leverage
technology to fuel their future success. Highlights of the event include two workshops, “Boosting Your
Business Using Technology,” a presentation on creating an e-Commerce presence on the web and,
“Getting in Tune with Your Customer Base,” a how-to on using social media to engage your customers.
The event will also include sessions on such topics as cloud computing and technology tools to improve
cash flow.
Ken Yancey, CEO of SCORE, states that the conference presents a rare opportunity for small
business owners to obtain a great deal of information in a free, single day event. Following the event,
SCORE will provide attendees with free, one-on-one mentoring on the latest business technologies and
techniques. For more information about the event, you may call Gilberto de Jesus on (202) 418-7331 or
via e-mail at Gilberto.deJesus@fcc.gov To register and to see the full event schedule, please go to the
