The FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (PSHSB) is conducting a photo project and contest to collect and feature pictures of the public safety community on its website.
PSHSB is particularly interested in using “action” photos of firefighters, police officers, and EMS personnel performing public safety duties. PSHSB will feature selected photos on its website, http://www.fcc.gov/pshs/.
How does it work?
- Take original photos (800x600 pixels or higher) of your public safety agency personnel in action.
- Submit your photos to PSHSB at pshsbphoto@fcc.gov with "Photo Contest Entry" in the subject.
- Submit questions and/or comments to pshsbinfo@fcc.gov with "Photo Contest" in the subject.
- If your photos are selected, we will feature them on the PSHSB website and the participants selected will receive attribution on the PSHSB website.
- One photo each month will be selected by PSHSB staff and will receive a certificate of recognition from Bureau Chief James A. Barnett, Jr.
- One photo each quarter will be selected from the monthly winners by James A. Barnett, Jr. and will receive a PSHSB Challenge Coin.
- One photo each year will be selected from the quarterly winners by James A. Barnett, Jr. and will receive a certificate of recognition from Chairman Julius Genachowski.
Photos may be submitted anytime. We will be selecting and featuring new photos periodically on the website.
Who can participate?
- Must be a U.S. resident, resident of Puerto Rico or resident of a U.S. territory
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Immediate family members, or household members, of FCC employees are not eligible to participate.
- Participants agree to the rules outlined below (see Other Rules).
When do I submit photos?
You can submit photos any time between now and December 31, 2010. New photos will be selected and featured periodically on the website. Winners will be announced on the website (monthly and quarterly).
What can I submit?
- Submit photos of fire, police, 9-1-1 dispatchers, EMS or other public safety entities.
- Submit photos whose subject is public safety-related or involves the public safety community.
- Submit original photos.
- Edit your photo however you like.
- Submit color or black and white photography.
Please submit only photos that you have taken and for which you own the copyright. Also, we will reject photos that we believe are inappropriate; for example if they appear to advertise a product, show nudity, indecency, drugs, violence, or symbols or acts of hatred, defame an individual, or violate a person’s reasonable expectation of privacy.
How many photos can I send?
As many as you like.
Will my photo be returned?
Photos will not be returned. Please do not send your only copy of a photo.
Other Rules
Participation Conditions
By participating in this project, all participants, if selected for feature on the PSHSB website, grant PSHSB permission to use their name, photograph, biographical information, and likeness for promotional purposes in Internet and print advertising without further compensation or notice, except where prohibited by law. By submitting photos, all participants, if selected for feature on the PSHSB website, grant to PSHSB the right to reproduce, distribute, display and modify the artwork as appropriate. Furthermore, all participants, by submitting their entries, represent that their entries are original and do not violate the rights of any other person or entity, including intellectual property rights and/or privacy rights. PSHSB may copy and distribute entries as it deems necessary.
Liability
By participating in this project, participant agrees to release and hold harmless PSHSB and its employees from any and all damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind resulting from your participation, including infringement of intellectual property rights. The FCC, PSHSB, and its employees assume no responsibility or liability for any damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind arising in whole or in part from this project.
