As a part of the ongoing Bureau’s efforts to disseminate communications
information, the Bureau’s Chief Engineer regularly provides installments
of Tech Topics that should be of interest to the public safety and
homeland security communities.
The technical discussions below and in subsequent postings to
this web site are intended to provide fundamental technical information
on topics that should be of interest to First Responders, Hospitals
and Health Care Providers, 911 Call Centers, our government partners,
industry, and the general public. They are intended to provide
information as well as provoke thought and potential interaction
with the Commission’s
Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau regarding the principles
of telecommunications and applications of these principles in
public safety or homeland security situations.
The mention of any specific
system, manufacturer, or vendor is not intended to be an endorsement
by the Commission in any way, but simply as exemplary of the
topic being discussed. If you have any comments or suggestions
regarding Tech Topics, please email Bill Lane, Chief Engineer, FCC, Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau.
