On May 10, 2013, the Commission’s Technology Transitions Policy Task Force (Task Force)
released a public notice proposing to move forward with real-world trials to obtain data that will be
helpful to the Commission in determining what policies are appropriate to promote investment and
innovation while protecting consumers, promoting competition, and ensuring that emerging all-Internet
Protocol (IP) networks remain resilient.1
The Task Force set the comment and reply comment deadlines for the Trials Public Notice as 45
days and 75 days, respectively, after publication of the summary of the public notice in the Federal
Register.2 On May 24, 2013, a summary of the Trials Public Notice appeared in the Federal Register.3
Accordingly, comments will be due by July 8, 2013, and reply comments will be due by August 7,
