On October 4, 2017, the FCC's Media Bureau released a Public Notice announcing the comment deadlines for a petition filed by National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) for partial reconsideration of the Commission’s Video Description Expansion Order.

NCTA requests that the Commission modifies the video description rules in order to:

  • allow networks to count repeated shows more often;
  • allow networks to re-count shows that are re-aired after a period of years; and
  • permit compliance to be averaged across multiple quarters.

Comments shall be filed in proceeding number 11-43, which may be accessed via the FCC’s Electronic Comment Filing System (https://www.fcc.gov/ecfs/).
